How to Work From Home Without Losing Your Mind

Working from home requires different challenges than going into the office.

Every day feels like ground hogs day!

OMG! WHAT DAY IS IT!?!?!?!?!

 

With lockdowns, mandatory shelter-in-place, it can be hard to find a routine that works for you. Your routine is disturbed from the normal get-out-the-door mindset to – I have all the time in the world!

 

Here are the tips and tricks to do that!

 

1. Stay on a schedule!

 

It may feel like ground hogs day, but try and wake up at the same time and change things up depending on the day. Sure, get some more rest, but don’t oversleep. Try not to stay up too late watching one more episode of Ozark! Just remember this too shall pass!

 

2. Create a space that you can work productively from!

 

Creating dedicated working area or room in your apartment or house can really help you compartmentalize your work. Plus, it can help your family know when you are working and can have a positive effect on understanding the when you are free to play or relax versus when you need to be serious and are thinking.

 

Just REPEAT, "This time is good for me to do some stuff I've always wanted to do"

 

3. Go outside!

Even if you’re not an avid runner or need to let a dog out, just go outside and get some fresh air. Getting the day in you or the feel for it at the beginning and end of the day helps build circadian rhythm and a healthy mental state.

 

4. Shutdown and have some fun!

Build some fun into the end of your day. Create a nice routine where you call a friend or do a dance when you’ve completed your work. You can ring a bell or grab your kids or high five a roommate. Either way, have fun! The day is in the books!

 

5. Make working from home into time well spent!

Overall, these times are not easy, but having some more time at home allows you to have more time with family or friends, also is great time to clean, reorganize cabinets and closets, and have a chance to go through some old clothes. Plus, it’s great times for games, creativity, and fun. Playing music, or setting up Zoom dates, or calling old friends are just some ways to use this time!
